My Stargazer lilies are finished blooming now, but they sure were pretty while they lasted. I have several clumps of these in my garden and look forward to them every year.

Gorgeous. I really do need some more lilies in the garden. They are so carefree. I had a bunch of very large, very tall Conca D’or lilies in July that made me swoon every time I walked out of the house. Like a musky vanilla perfume….probably the most highly scented and best smelling plant in my yard all season. All I wanted to do was put a chair next to that clump and breathe in the air! And here I was thinking recently that I need more pink in mid-summer bc my big sunny border was so ultra-saturated with big clumps of black-eyed susans. I don’t really “design”, I just throw stuff in. But I think the bright saturated pink of the Stargazer might really stand out against the bright banana yellow of the black-eyed susans? I have a couple clumps of paler pink obedient plant ‘Pink Manners’ but they get overpowered.
I need to follow your lead and plant some annuals. I’m just “lost” as far as annuals go. It’s ANOTHER commitment! LOL
Hi Jim,
(Sorry I took so long to reply, I didn’t see these comments til now.)
Your lilies sound great — I love the scent of vanilla.
Oh I don’t design either, I just keep stuffing things in where ever I have room lol… sometimes I start out with a plan but it doesn’t last long, haha.
Yes, I think the stargazers would stand out. I just wish they lasted longer. We’ve had so much rain this year that they didn’t last long.
You definitely need some annuals for color! :)
