Hello Sherry,
Oh I really love this flower, she’s so beautiful… I really never understood that there were so many different looking flowers before I visited your home here…. Thanks for opening my eyes to what nature has to offer…
Thank you Spider. I -love- these gerberas. I’m so glad you enjoy your visits here. :)
I can certainly see why it has that name — it looks delicious. What a beauty. Always a pleasure to see your flowers.
Quietpaths, thanks, I think this is my favorite Gerbera so far.
Stunning. I really love this, and now I want some!
Louise, these are one of my favorite gerberas, and are new to me this year. They have a series called “Lollipop” Gerberas now, with names like ‘coconut’, ‘watermelon’, ‘strawberry’ — and all of them are just gorgeous!
Sherry… I also saw then at Lowe’s.. do the old petals have seed’s attached to them?
Hi klee97,
I don’t know — I haven’t let any of them go to seed, I deadhead the flowers as soon as they start to fade. I know that it is a hybrid though so I’m not sure if the seeds would be viable? It might be worth a try though, they really are pretty flowers. Sorry I can’t be of more help.
Hi Sherry, I have the lollipop gerbera daises I got on clearance at lowes they bloomed all summer on my front poach in containers they are so pretty and yours are so pretty, do you know if they are perinnials, how can I save them for next year? from Alzonal Williams
Hi Alzonal,
I loved the flowers also. No, they aren’t perennials, I think they are tropical and only hardy in Zones 9-11. You might try saving them as houseplants — I have never tried to save Gerberas so I’m not sure if they would live indoors or not. You could always try though. :)
This is a wonderful flower. I bought a pot of watermellon lollipops, and it made gorgeous blossoms, but the last couple of buds just turned brown! I water it twice a day. What am I doing wrong?
P.S. Where can you get seeds – if that’s possible for a hybrid?
Hi Daisy,
It could be that it was too wet. I’m not sure. My Gerberas in pots almost always get grey mold on them no matter what I do, and I have to spray with a fungicide. I love the flowers but really hate the foliage.
As for seeds, I don’t know a source for them and have never tried to save them. Sorry I can’t be of more help.
Are lollipop gerbera daisies perianal?
