I am loving the vivid red flowers of these perennial verbena plants in my flower beds this year. They are very tolerant of our hot sun and high humidity, and also seem to prefer dry soil. These plants are hardy to -10 degrees and are very attractive to butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. The plants spread into large mounds and trail over the edges of my rock wall flower beds, and I like the combination of the red bright flowers with the white miniature roses. Red Verbena and white miniature roses
in rock wall flower bed
You’ve given an idea for a the garden next year. We have a very dry climate and little humidity. How do you think they would hold? Zone 4?
Quietpaths, according to the plant tag, they are supposed to be hardy to -10 degrees and they like well-drained soil. They do seem to thrive in the very hot area I have them in. I had some one year that did get mildew due to our humid weather, so they definitely would do better in your low-humidity weather. I’m not sure it would survive your winters though? (It can also be grown as an annual and will flower all summer)
