These are Gazania flowers, commonly known as “Treasure Flowers”, a tender perennial grown as an annual in my Zone 7 area. These plants thrive in full sun and are very drought-tolerant. The plants stay at under a foot tall and bloom in a variety of colors and markings. The flowers close in late evening and on cloudy days.

These are just about perfect…. what a display these must make…. I could not help but smile when I saw these… I would love to see these in my small garden someday.
Beautiful flower shot and colors. Congratulations.
so lovely! I wanted to pick them all and put in a vase so I could look at them all the time. I love the colors. its so vibrant. how do u plant them? I bet it will thrive in here but we don’t have that kind of plant here. I wish to have that in the yard.
Beautiful flowers; such a variety of colors. Lovely photos!
Hi Kerslyn,
Thanks. :) I grew these treasure flowers from small tray plants I purchased in early spring, but you could also grow them from seeds. I know burpee.com carries gazania seeds, and I’m sure other online nurseries do as well.

One of my very favorite flowers. I just love them. They are annuals here also. I had never heard them called Treasure Flowers but they sure are.I do have a Hardy Gazanie–they are a lot different. the foliage is different and the flower is smaller and only yellow, called Colorado Gold.. but very pretty.
That pink and yellow is gorgeous!

Not sure if my comment is accepted. So once more, to be sure :-) Gazania’s : very colorful, they are cultivated here in the greenhouse of the flower shop, too cold for them to grow outside, we buy them when they are about to bloom and keep them as a pot plant.
