This plant is new to me this year. I saw it online and thought it was interesting and so ordered a pack of 3 bulbs. I planted the large bulbs in the corner of the Stump Flowerbed earlier this spring, it took a long time for them to sprout but finally, this one started blooming a couple weeks ago. The other two bulbs have since sprouted and are just about to open a couple of inches from this one. This is gorgeous and definitely an interesting plant. No foliage yet, just a thick stalk about 10 inches tall with this large flower on top. The plants are native to South Africa and are in the Amaryllidaceae family. They bloom only once a year but seem to be long-lasting. After flowering, a large seedhead with berries should form. Note: These plants are poisonous.
