Here are some photos of the beds surrounding the gazebo, a mix of annuals, ornamental grass, perennials and shrubs.

The view from inside the gazebo, my favorite place to sit. The slope bed has ornamental grass, bee balm, Laura Bush petunias, creeping phlox, coneflowers, agastache, loropetalum, and much more.

This is a shady spot in the woods behind the gazebo, it’s a new favorite place to sit and watch the birds… lately though, it’s too hot to stay for long, even in the shade of the trees.

hosta great expectationsIt’s hard to believe the month of May is already almost over! The flower beds and borders and containers are all planted (for the most part) and mulched now and I’m busy every day maintaining it all. We haven’t had much rain lately and it’s very hot, so I’m already having to water at least every other day, especially the containers. Here are some photos taken over the past week and a half. These blooms are also ‘Kilian Donahue’. This clematis gives the appearance of being two or more vines planted together as the new and old flowers bloom together.

I planted a lot of gallardia in the new slope bed above the gazebo. This is a very hot, all-day sun area. So far, they are doing well here.

agastache apricot sprite
I grew these Agastache ‘Apricot Sprite’ plants from seed this spring. They’re doing well, if the racoon would just stop digging near them and knocking them over.

daffs lining the pathOur temperature today was in the 90s! We had to turn on the ac.. ridiculous this early in the year. Here are a few more photos of the tulips and the new bed I’m working on. The tulips are so pretty this year and I want to remember them… if this heat keeps up they probably won’t last very long.

I love these. The foliage is as pretty as the flowers.

new flower bed area path going down towards gazebo new bed on slope
The tulips and other spring flowers are above and along the path surrounding part of the new flower bed. This bed is above the gazebo at the edge of the woods, the path continues down and around the gazebo, connecting to the secret garden flower bed. The mulched area will be filled with mostly summer perennials.
