October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came.
The Chestnuts, Oaks and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
-
-
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
-
-
-
The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses maple
In scarlet looked their best.
-
-
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.
-

The leaves are changing early this year.

Sherry your pictures are simply awesome, we haven’t had much in bright colors this year up here so it was nice to see yours… Temps will be in the low 20s here later this week, I guess summer is over……………..
Hi Spider :)
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the photos. Ours aren’t at peak yet, and so many have already fallen due to the drought and the extremely windy days we’ve been having lately. Sorry to hear that your area hasn’t had good color this fall, and you’re right, the low 20s sounds an awful lot like the dreaded “W” word… who knows, maybe we wil have a mild winter this year? Hopefully it will pass as quickly as summer did!
ttys,
Sherry
Lovely fall color to go with the George Cooper poem. I miss fall here. There are a few trees that lose their leaves, but almost no fall color occurs here.
Thanks, Lana. I bet you do miss the fall color. I love it, but hate what comes after.
This is perfect; the whole thing! I loved the colors and the poem. You have such an abundance of color in your yard that I see how winter could be viewed as the antithesis to this theme.
Thanks Christine. The gray of winter is always a shock to the system, ( and a depressing one!) after all the color of the rest of the year here.

I absolutely love Fall! You have to travel for almost an hour from where I live to find the trees changing colors like that but it’s well worth the drive! I love this time of year(too bad the leaves will be dropping soon)! So pretty!
Hi Nate,
I love the colors too, just hate what comes after! Thanks for visiting :)

You need a full spectrum light box and a tin of cocoa for winter…
Christine,
I have used the full spectrum bulbs, and have thought about one of those light boxes. I definitely think I need one. The cocoa may help as well.. :)
