It’s hard to believe the month of May is already almost over! The flower beds and borders and containers are all planted (for the most part) and mulched now and I’m busy every day maintaining it all. We haven’t had much rain lately and it’s very hot, so I’m already having to water at least every other day, especially the containers. Here are some photos taken over the past week and a half. These blooms are also ‘Kilian Donahue’. This clematis gives the appearance of being two or more vines planted together as the new and old flowers bloom together.

Orange butterfly and Gallardia ‘Oranges and Lemons’

I planted a lot of gallardia in the new slope bed above the gazebo. This is a very hot, all-day sun area. So far, they are doing well here.

I grew these Agastache ‘Apricot Sprite’ plants from seed this spring. They’re doing well, if the racoon would just stop digging near them and knocking them over.

Much more to come. I’ve been busy, but I have taken lots of photos this month. Just haven’t had time to post them yet.

Gorgeous. All your watering is paying off! :o) I love looking at your pics. It provides a peek into what I will expect in the coming weeks.
Is that agastache an annual variety? You know I love me some agastache. How carefree can you get?
To give you an idea of where we are, in bloom are nepeta, lupine, rhodos, tree peony is fading, bleeding hearts blooms are fading, geranium is beginning to bloom. The roses are all budded but still have a good week or two before the earliest start to break and my bearded irises will likely bloom on schedule, over Memorial Day weekend. :o)
Hi Jim,
Sorry it took me so long to respond! Hope you had a nice holiday too. :)
I love the agastache too, I just wish it wouldn’t get so tall. I have some that is well over 4 feet now. It was standing up nicely until we got a torrential downpour, had to stake it all up. The Apricot Sprite is a dwarf, so I’m hoping it will thrive. (if only the darned coon will leave it alone!)
My peony, bleeding hearts, iris, etc are all finished now. The roses are all in full bloom. Enjoy yours that are blooming now — it all goes by too fast doesn’t it? Hard to believe it’s the end of May already!

sorry, just read your response to my comment last post…..all your agastaches are seed grown and perennial. Awesome. I’ve got two varieties now but they are both slightly different purples. I’d like something a bit different.
Jim, mine are all shades of purple too (except for the dwarf variety). I would like to try something different as well.
Hello Sherry,
As always Sherry your pictures are all beautiful but the first one with the Gazebo in the background is really awesome… Do you ever have time to just sit back to relax and take in the beauty around you…??
Thank you, Spider. :) Good to hear from you!
I spend entirely too much time in that gazebo… lol. Seriously though, I do enjoy being out there, especially in late evening and night, after the work is all finished for the day.
Hope you had a nice holiday weekend, talk to you soon,
-Sherry
