I have been looking for this plant for awhile now and couldn’t find it locally. I finally went ahead and ordered a bareroot plant online and just got it planted this week in the Secret Garden. Today, I walked into Lowe’s Garden Center and found this fine specimen, already a good-sized plant. I bought it of course, and planted it in a new flower bed area behind the bench at the back side of the Secret Garden. New leaves start out as bright green and turn purple and burgundy as they age so the plant is always several colors. In the fall, the leaves are supposed to turn a vibrant orange and gold. The flowers are a light blush pink but of course, I bought it for this gorgeous foliage.

Here you can see it planted behind the bench and the creek. This is a new flower
bed area and it’s sparse right now, filled with new plants.

My goodness, I love the foliage color! So fun!
You are way too hard to keep up with. I planted a cimicifuga, 2 aruncus dioicus, three helleborus foetidus, 2 trollius – globeflower……..I think that’s it. And bought some zinnias and coleus. Have to have zinnias and coleus.
But I still feel I’m lagging behind you. I must get my rear in gear! :o)
Hi Jim,
I do love this plant! The bareroot I planted has also sprouted, so hopefully, I’ll soon have two of these.
I love goat’s beard, and added a couple more to the edge of the woods this year too. Helleborus is something I have never grown but do think they’re pretty. Yes, always have to have zinnias and coleus. I’m loving these Profusion Zinnias.
You’re not lagging behind, this spring / early summer is just flying by way too fast! :)
