The Blaze climber, the large-flowered pinks and yellow and the Knockout Roses have finished their first big flush of blooms and have been cut back. Now my other, old-fashioned roses are all in full bloom. I have these growing along the fence and on the ivy arbor. They are so pretty this year, which is surprising considering the almost constant rain and extremely high humidity we have been having here for the past month.

Hi Sherry. Absolutely exquisite rose photos. I am in love with that gorgeous pink along the arbor. WOW! I am totally a sucker for roses and have quite a few although only one old garden rose. I would like more. Can you really have too many? The display put on by my double knockouts’ first flush was mind boggling this year. They are three years old and really put on a show. I took a cutting of one of my boss’ old modern climber two years ago and it’s blooming its fool head off (Aloha).
It has been warm and sunny with less than average rainfall up here. In other words, perfect rose weather and they are at least 3-4wks ahead of bloom schedule.
Enjoy your rose display and keep showing off through your blog. I’ll never be able to get enough of the beautiful pictures.
Jim
Thank you, Jim. That pink rose was given to me by my grandmother many years ago. She loved her roses and had many of them. In fact, that’s where most of my old-fashioned roses came from, from my grandparents and my mom.
Your Knockouts are farther along than mine, this is only the second full year I’ve had them. I’m happy with them though, they have so many flowers, don’t they? Mine had gotten a little leggy though, due to lack of pruning, so we cut them back quite a bit and hopefully, they’ll bush out a little thicker.
I’m not familiar with Aloha so I looked it up in Google images — it’s gorgeous!
Everything is ahead here too, it seems everything is speeded up this year. I’m hoping we get some dry days now, but with temps and humidity this high, we are getting severe thunderstorms and heavy rains almost every afternoon. Oh well, at least I’m not having to do much watering. :)
I’m glad you enjoy my photos, thank you for your visits and comments.

Brilliant colors and so healthy looking! Wonderful – you are a master.
Thank you, Christine. :) I don’t know about being a master, but thank you for saying so.
Well, as a musician myself I must say you have an eye for composition – with flowers!
thanks Christine.
