The Pearl Crescent (Phyciodes tharos) is one of our most common butterflies here. Every day I see a dozen or more of these pretty little butterflies in my flower beds and around the edges of the woods. They especially love the black eyed susan flowers. Their larval foodplant is asters. Click to enlarge.
