I saw this very large dragonfly in my yard today. I think it’s a Clubtail (Gomphidae), but I’m not sure whether it’s a dragonhunter or a Midland Clubtail. (I’m leaning more towards it being a Midland Clubtail.) Very fierce looking, and not as pretty as the numerous blue damselflies I see here every day. Click on either photo to view a larger version.

I love how the wings are so delicate, yet so shiny. You live in a wonderland of insects and flowers. (Maybe your flowers are why all the wonderful insects are there.)
Louise, thanks for your comments. Yes, all these flowers do draw a lot of insects! I wish they were all the ‘good kind’. :)
