What’s blooming in your yard this week? We had a mostly sunny holiday weekend here after a couple of weeks of almost daily rain, and now since Monday evening we have had one torrential downpour after another with very high humidity and temperatures. All this rain has resulted in lush growth, but the heavy rains also have ruined a lot of flowers. The evergreen azaleas, ivy and rhododendron flowers didn’t last long, and the peonies had one flower that wasn’t ruined by rain. We’ve had a lot of sun though in between the incessant rain showers so I do have a lot of annuals in bloom right now in beds and containers, along with many perennials in the rock wall flower beds. Last year I worried that my flower beds were too dry, this year I’m worried that they’re staying too wet.. hopefully we will soon be back to normal late spring weather.

Your yard is amazing! What beautiful photos.
Hi Amanda, thank you. :)
It is always such a delight to see what it’s in your garden and yard. You have such a variety! I am just a little envious.
Thank you, Quietpaths. It’s a whole lot of work, but something I enjoy most of the time. :)
You have lovely flowers!
My daylillies look like yours a the moment – drnched – up here in the NE, we’ve had so much flipping rain that my willows are bent over, the amsonia has dropped too many flowers (I should have taken stalks into the house before the rain – feh) and the baptisia is looking a little stunned. My peonies aren’t out yet, but the irises are and I am afraid to go look to see if they’re ruined. Still, I have a lot of seeds that will have benefited from all this rain, but bedding plants slugs have taken over. The angst of the dedicated gardener, eh?
Hi Organic Mama,
Thanks! I definitely know what you mean about the rain, we’ve had SO much of it lately and so many slugs… Is there anything worse than slugs?! (I have found that ammonia spray kills the nasty things without hurting the plants)
We’re finally getting some sunshine — hope you are too. Thanks for stopping by. :)
Well, your garden has exploded into bright colors … how pretty is that!? The Day Lilies are beautiful… how I would love to stroll your gardens!
Thank you, Michele. The day lilies are finally getting a little sunshine now. :)
