The native Flame Azaleas (Rhododendron calendulaceum) have been in bloom for about a week now, both in my yard and throughout the woods here. These tall, open shrubs or trees are always so pretty. In the woods, these azaleas often grow in groups and when in bloom they look like bright flaming orange clouds among all the dark green. These shrubs are commonly known as “honeysuckle” here, probably due to the fragrance. Click on any of the photos to enlarge.
