Thanks Jan, the smell is wonderful and this is one of my favorite shrubs.

I do envy you your almost tropical climate even if you can’t grow lilacs!

These are so lovely. Lilacs are on my list of plants I wish I could grow; unfortunately I live in too hot a climate. One day I am going to visit a place when the lilacs are in bloom so that I can enjoy the smell.
