Monarch Butterfly

A beautiful monarch butterfly visited, sipping at the lantana flowers all day today. It was another hot, dry day, with no rain in sight. It doesn’t feel like summer is almost over. Click any photo to enlarge.

Beautiful Monarchs…I catch my breath when they flutter past me.

This summer has been terrible. But - today we are having a cool spell! It’s 85 at noon! Rain is forecasted tomorrow and the weekend temps will be around 80!

So, I hope our wave of cool air gets to you…

Thanks Mary, yes they are beautiful. I haven’t seen as many of the monarchs this year, but the swallowtails are plentiful. There were over a dozen black and blue ones in the yard today.

I think it was around mid 80’s here today too, a little bit cooler anyway. The local weather forecast says we may get a thunderstorm tonite, and a chance of rain tomorrow from the tropical depression. I hope so. Some of my shrubs are literally wilted from the dryness. A neighbor’s well is very low, and another neighbor’s spring has gone completely dry.. the drought is very bad here and I know it is in your area too. I hope we both get some rain very soon.. I think I’ve been saying that all summer now — hopefully this time it really will rain!

    Your Monarch photos are lovely!
I am so smitten with the butterflies. I am creating a butterfly habitat in my yard. Very fun.
