CBS reconsiders Jericho cancellation

jerichoYay! … some encouraging news for Jericho fans! After receiving a flood of emails, phone calls and messages, and 50,000 (fifty THOUSAND!) pounds of peanuts delivered to the CBS New York offices, sources say that the network is reconsidering the May 16th decision to cancel Jericho, and that the show may return as a mid-season replacement.

From yahoo news:

Fans trumpeting the cause of CBS’ canceled drama “Jericho” have caught the network’s ear. CBS, deluged with calls, messages and shipments of nuts signifying viewer displeasure, is reconsidering its decision, a source close to the production said Tuesday. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly. A decision on whether to bring the show back, probably for a midseason run, is imminent, the source said.

And, from latimes.com:

Sometimes going a little nutty is a good thing.
For weeks, “Jericho” junkies have been firing e-mails (effectively shutting down InBoxes at CBS and this newspaper), signing petitions and sending bags of nuts to CBS headquarters in protest.
The assault seems to have worked, “Jericho” creator and executive producer Carol Barbee said Tuesday. CBS executives are in discussions with the show’s producers and actors to resuscitate the show — killed just last month — for an eight-episode run in mid-season.

Even though these reports are encouraging, CBS still hasn’t made an official announcement that Jericho will return. Fans should continue the fight!

From jericholives.com:

While we must steady ourselves to be gracious toward CBS, we must not falter in our resolve. Make the letters you send today and tomorrow sincerely express your hope that CBS will actually show us it cares in the very near future and let the network know, come the season 2 premiere not only will you be there – but that your going to be there to make sure the show stays for a very, very long time. The writers say they have arced out many seasons. If the current rumor is true and we’ve given them the opportunity to tell season 2, let’s make sure they have the opportunity to tell them all.

Thanks for the info, Jane. I’ll definitely be watching, it’s one of my favorite shows on television. I’m looking forward to re-watching the entire season this summer, and the new season of course.
